How To Properly Recover From Rhinoplasty How To Properly Recover From Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is just another name for "nose job." Rhinoplasty involves reshaping the nose for both reconstructive and cosmetic reasons. Recovery is considered a very important stage in this procedure, because it can mean the difference between a good nose job and a bad one.

Handling Discomfort

Some mild to moderate discomfort following rhinoplasty is typical. This is often managed by prescription pain killers. Part of the discomfort is the feeling of stuffiness in the nose. The obstacle here is you're not supposed to blow your nose for a minimum of 7 days. This is because your tissues are still in the process of recovering at this stage.

Thus, it would be a good idea to take decongestants with your surgeon's approval. You may want to stay away from decongestants that carry certain ingredients, as a number of combination products may carry aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that raise the risk of bleeding. In this sense, also stay away from herbal remedies or other supplements that have high quantities of Ginseng, Ginko or Vitamin E.
